Matt's Birthday

So the sponge was a hit. I think it was more of a hit than the real present. He raked in the gifts -- 2 Star War movies, Pikman 2, a gameboy game, jeans & pj bottoms, and money (not counting our gifts).

The cake was ok, we've decided though that we've gotten spoiled with my cakes -- Hy-Vee cakes just aren't good anymore. So hopefully I get good enough that I'll be comfortable making cakes for birthdays.

Oh, and they (Matt and Tahani) were sooooooooooo hyper -- makes me glad that Nick & I haven't had kids yet, so there's more of an age difference between cousins when we finally do, help keep things somewhat more calm then. Wow, were they hyper.

Think that's all for now.

Nothing New Really

Just figured I'd post some ramblings ... I'm good at that. Made a cake the other night, started to decorate it with an Irish flag (just cuz it would be quick and we'd been to the Scottish Irish Highland Festival recently). Yeah, ended up being a bastardized Irish flag -- forgot to reserve white icing for it -- oops.

Nick & I went out for Chinese last night while going shopping for Matt's birthday (and dropping of pictures of the kiddos from work to get developed, and shoes for me). I was talking trash about people (cuz that's what I do :) ... and yes, I was talking trash about you if you're reading this -- just to give everyone a complex). Immediately after I finish a rant, I open my fortune cookie to read "You are generous to an extreme and always think of the other fellow." Made me laugh to no end -- still laughing about it now.

Tonight we go to celebrate Matt's birthday. We're being an evil aunt & uncle and caught him a Spongebob Squarepants card that has a make your own Spongebob thing, and a sponge (oh, and a Mystic Force Power Rangers Solar Morpher). We're going to hide the morpher (the real present) when we come in, so when he opens presents, he thinks he's getting a sponge from us -- just to get a reaction. I can't wait.

There was some other stuff I was going to post, but I don't remember what they were now, so I guess I won't.

I'm so excited ....

and I just can't hide it! I finally had the last straw with my cell phone not holding a charge, so now Nick & I are the proud owners of new camera phones. Alltel had a buy one, get one deal on a LG camera phone, so we went tonight after I got off work and replaced our phones since mine's been stupid for so long (and really, would it be that hard/bad/whatever to stock batteries for models of phones they sold a year or two ago? Ugh!) I think we're eventually going to get a cable thingie so we can upload our own ringtones to it, and other stuff.

Our vacation was nice. Visited with Nick's friends back home, and went to the Scottish-Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park. So much fun. So many men in kilts with bagpipes. I was in heaven. I even got a picture of me with a bagpiper -- really the best (and only) souvenir I came home with. Oh, yeah ... we also watched jousting ... Nick got some good pictures of that too. Light armor jousting sucked, I thought, but the heavy armor was neat to watch. Men in full armor on horseback with wooden lances that break and fly -- it was soooo much fun to watch. Dave & Sandy were ready to head back home before it was done, so I missed my chance to have a picture with a knight, which bummed me out. But Nick and I are going to try to go to a Medieval Times show for either our birthdays or our anniversary I think.

The crappy part is 2 weeks ago yesterday I went to the doctor for a suspected sinus infection (which I did have), got drugs, took all the drugs, and yesterday had to call them up for another antibiotic. Hopefully it kills it this time, I don't wanna feel icky any more.

Guess that's really all I have for now. I really need to try to start posting a little more often again.

Labor Day Weekend

Yeah, no labor for me. Had someone coming into work for me at 11:15 today, so I could mentally prepare for my mother-in-law coming to visit after having a stressful week with my kiddos (well, everyone elses kiddos at work). The gal I had covering my room calls me just as I'm getting ready to head down the stairs and tells me they can cover my room now, they're available (apparently whoever they were covering before me got back to work early). So I now have a 5 day weekend :P (plus I only work 2 days next week, cuz I'm going on vacation)

God, am I going to be able to handle going back to work after all this??? How do people do it after maternity leaves?
